Your Questions,
Answered Simply.
Short, plain-English answers to the questions we hear most — from job seekers, employers, and community partners.
For Job Seekers & Workers
No. Most roles need no prior experience. We care about your attitude, not your CV. We provide all training, inductions, and certifications on the job.
Yes. Kazi Konnect was specifically built for people with justice involvement. A record does not automatically disqualify you. We assess each person individually and match you to suitable roles.
Minimum Modern Award wages — always. No exceptions, no cash-in-hand. You get paid weekly, plus 11.5% super on all eligible earnings, and WorkCover insurance from shift one.
Super is retirement savings paid by your employer on top of your wages. You get 11.5% of your base wage paid into a fund of your choice. We make sure you set it up and receive every cent.
Yes. WorkCover insurance is mandatory and covers every Kazi Konnect worker from day one. If you are injured, you are protected — income replacement, medical costs, and rehabilitation support included.
Traffic control (TMC certified), site labouring, warehousing, commercial cleaning, site logistics, and Victorian Government infrastructure projects. Check /jobs for current openings.
Yes — if you have legal work rights in Australia (visa, residency, or citizenship). Our team includes a dedicated CALD Community Liaison who supports new arrivals through onboarding.
A mentor is a Kazi Konnect staff member assigned to support you — not just your manager. They check in weekly, help with workplace challenges, and connect you to housing or wellbeing services if needed.
Fill in the Worker Registration form at /apply, or email info@kazikonnect.com.au. If referred by a partner organisation, mention it. We respond within one business day.
Yes — and that is the goal. Many of our workers are offered direct employment by the host business after proving themselves. A Kazi Konnect placement is your foot in the door.
For Employers & Host Businesses
Kazi Konnect is the legal employer. We recruit, induct, and pay the worker. You direct the work on-site. We handle payroll, super, WorkCover, and all compliance. You get the labour without the HR burden.
Yes. We hold a current Victorian Labour Hire Licence (LHA). Engaging an unlicensed provider is a criminal offence in Victoria. Our licence is publicly verifiable on the LHA register.
You are responsible for on-site safety, day-to-day direction, and fair treatment. We are responsible for the employment relationship. We provide a clear Host Employer Agreement that spells out who does what.
Everything: base wages, 11.5% super, WorkCover premium, payroll tax provisions, leave loading, and our management fee. No hidden costs. Clear, itemised invoices every week or fortnight.
Standard roles: 3–5 business days. Certified roles (e.g. traffic control): 5–10 business days. Larger engagements: contact us early to plan lead times together.
Our mentors proactively monitor attendance and address issues early — before they become problems for you. This reduces absenteeism and early drop-outs compared to standard labour hire.
Our workers come from disadvantaged cohorts (justice-involved, CALD, long-term unemployed). We provide verified employment outcome reports for your ESG, RAP, Modern Slavery, and Victorian Government social procurement submissions. Real evidence, not greenwashing.
Traffic management, construction labouring, warehousing and logistics, commercial cleaning, site logistics, and Victorian Government infrastructure. We are expanding — contact us with specific needs.
Compliance & Legal
The Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic) requires all providers to hold a licence. We also comply with the Fair Work Act 2009, the WHS Act 2011 (Vic), the Superannuation Guarantee Act 1992, and applicable Modern Awards.
We use the Department of Home Affairs VEVO system to verify citizenship, residency, or visa conditions for every worker before placement. Employing without right-to-work verification is a criminal offence — we protect everyone.
Shared responsibility. We conduct pre-placement safety checks and WHS inductions. The host employer manages site-level safety. Workers have the right to refuse unsafe work — and we back them on that.
Depends on the role: Building and Construction On-site Award (labouring), Traffic Management Award (traffic control), Cleaning Services Award (cleaning), Storage Services Award (warehousing). All workers are classified correctly and paid accordingly.
Yes. We are subject to the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards. We maintain compliant contracts, payslips, leave records, and rosters. Workers can contact the Fair Work Ombudsman any time — we welcome it.
Wraparound Support
Mental health referrals, AOD support, housing referrals via HavenBridge, legal aid connections, financial counselling, and cultural and language support — all coordinated through your mentor.
Tell your mentor immediately. We partner with HavenBridge and other housing organisations for fast referrals. We can also adjust your roster during housing transitions where possible. A job without a roof is fragile — we treat both.
Talk to your mentor, email info@kazikonnect.com.au, or contact the Fair Work Ombudsman or the Labour Hire Authority directly — anonymously if you prefer. We will never retaliate. Ever.
Yes. Our Community and Migrant Liaison, Abuk, works specifically with CALD and migrant workers. Culturally sensitive onboarding, workplace rights explained in plain language, and connections to community organisations are all part of the package.
Both. We operate as a licensed labour hire business — commercially, compliantly, at market rates. The difference is our mission: every dollar generated goes toward employing more people from Victoria's most excluded communities. Social enterprise and commercial excellence are not opposites. We prove it every day.
